Frequently Asked Questions

How do I Name an App?

Once you have clicked the + icon, type in the name of your new app within the Name field. This represents the name or description that will appear below the App in the View.

How do I add a Link to an App?

Once you have clicked the + icon, you must enter a web address (URL) in the Link field. This link determines where the user will navigate to when they click on the App in the view. You can manually enter this URL or copy and paste it from a browser.

Please ensure you provide the full web address (URL) in the Link. The easiest way to do this is copy and paste the link from your browser directly into the Link field.

What does URL mean?

URL is a web address. The web address you provide in the Link field of an App determines where the user will navigate to when they click on the App in their View. You can manually enter this URL or copy and paste it from a browser.

How do I add an Icon (or Image) to an App?

When adding a new App, it is helpful to set an App Icon (or image) which represents the content the App is linking to. This makes it easy to identify for other users when appearing in their Views. Once you have clicked the + icon to add a new App, you can assign the app icon (or image) in one of three ways: click Select to upload an icon or image from your user device, click Select from library to choose an icon from the existing Launchpad icon library, or use the or paste an image URL field to use an icon (or image) from the internet using the image web address. Any Icon URL left blank will get the default Launchpad rocket icon.

What is an App Category?

Categories are assigned to Apps based on the type of internet content their associated link (or URL) is driving to. When adding a new App, please select the appropriate Category for the App Link you have provided.

Sorting Apps by content type helps group together similar apps for reporting purposes and makes it easier for Admin to search through App catalogues and locate relevant Apps which could benefit their schools.

How do I find an App?

Once in the “View” tab, click on the magnifying glass symbol and enter characters that appear in the name of the App you are searching for.

How do I Edit an App?

Hover over the App. When the "..." appear in the upper right-hand corner, click on them and select Edit. Edit the fields as necessary before clicking Submit.

How do I Delete an App?

Hover over the App. When the "..." three dots appear in the upper right-hand corner, click on them and select Delete.

Why don’t the “” three dots appear on all Apps?

The “” will appear on Apps created by you. Apps created by others (i.e. through ‘School’ or ‘Groups’) cannot be edited, deleted, or moved by you.

How do I reorder Apps in my View?

To move an App, simply position your curser over the App, select, drag, and do not release until the App has reached your intended new position. Please note that you can only reorder Apps in your View which you have added personally and/or have access to edit.
